Training plans

One of the best ways to get your squad motivated and get results is by having structured training plans to follow. They can be for weight control, fitness or competition, the main thing is they need to be tailored to your squad. RowPro Squad has what you need.

Tracking progress

Counting meters is the rowing equivalent of counting steps, and we all know that works. Plus there's the added bonus of seeing physical progress - improving fitness, getting back in shape, losing weight, or even getting faster. RowPro Squad tracks every meter for you automatically.

3D on-water

Sometimes all your squad needs is to get their mind out of your training room and out onto the water. It's amazing how that simple mind-shift changes everything. RowPro Squad's true 3D graphics display enables them to row on a virtual river with live rippling water reflecting the riverside landscape.

OK, it's a cliche, but we all know that variety is the spice of life, and that applies to rowing as well. You also get better physical results by mixing up the workouts you do. RowPro Squad has a huge variety of workouts - more or less anything you can think of, you can row.

Good stroke technique makes your squad look and feel like pros when they row, and gives them a sense of mastery that stimulates their rowing. It also feels more relaxed and less strenuous, and protects them from injuries.

By the numbers

If your squad rows 3 x 20 minutes per week, that adds up to around 75,000 strokes per year, so good technique is the key to rowing strongly and staying injury free long-term.

3D coaching clinic

RowPro Squad has a 3D Coaching Clinic where your squad can watch an Oarsman perform excellent stroke technique in slow motion, and learn the key parts of the stroke from Olympic rowing coach Brian Hawthorne.

Skilled 3D avatars

RowPro Squad also shows your squad good technique while they row each stroke - just match your stroke technique with your 3D avatar onscreen while you row. The avatar is always there onscreen, so they can check anytime.

Add in a mirror

After studying the coaching clinic, put the RowPro screen above a mirror in front of your squad while they row, and they'll soon spot any differences and start to correct them.

Drive and recovery

Each stroke has a drive where you pull the handle, and a recovery where you slide forward for the next drive. The drive-to-recovery ratio changes at different stroke rates. The coaching clinic teaches your squad, and the skilled avatar shows them the right timing automatically.

Setting up rows just got easy

One of the nicest things about RowPro Squad is the ability to set up a row on your computer screen and have it magically appear on every one of the squad's connected Concept2 PMs. And then show each PM's key metrics onscreen in realtime during the row, and of course collect all the results into a logbook after the row.

Mix of Concept2 PMs

Squads have a wide range of Concept2 models with an equally wide range of PMs. But all PM5, PM4 and PM3 monitors have one thing in common - they can connect via USB. That's why RowPRo Squad uses USB as its method for connecting PMs.

USB connections

All you need to conect each Concept2 PM is a standard USB A-B cable, like the ones used for printers. You can buy long ones (15 feet | 5 meters) from Concept2 that are ideal for connecting a line of ergs to a USB hub.

USB hub

It's important to use a good USB hub, and very important that the USB hub is mains-powered, which means it doesn't try to draw its power from the host computer. USB hubs with 4 or 7 ports are available from any computer shop. Use two 4-port hubs to connect 8 ergs.

PM Assistant

RowPro Squad has a built-in PM Assistant that shows automatically whenever you start RowPro Squad with more than one Concept2 PM connected. The PM Assistant visually helps you connect the PMs and place them in lanes.

Set up a Row

RowPro Squad has a panel called Set up a Row, where you point and click to select the row you want, then click the big green Row button to set up the row on all connected Concept2 PMs at the same time. Easy!
